Marvin was born in Deposit, New York, on 31 March 1872, the son of Louis B. and Julia (Bishop) Marvin. He was ordained a deacon in 1896 and a priest in 1898. He began his career at Zion Church in Windsor, New York, and St. Luke's Church at Harpersville. He was briefly in Indiana and assigned to Emmanuel Mission in Garrett, serving from 1906 to 1910. He later moved to Addison, New York, where he was enumerated in 1920. He married Katherine Henry on 26 June 1894 in Woodbury, New York. He died in Abington, Pennsylvania, on 21 October 1941.
