Hiram M. Roberts. He seems to have begun his clerical career as a Methodist in Michigan, where he appears on lists as a deacon as early as 1840. On 30 July 1840, he married Marie Antoinett Stevens in Monroe County, Michigan. He has not been located on the 1850 or 1860 censuses. He was rector of St. Paul's La Porte in 1851. In 1857, he resided in South Carolina.
