Frederick Thompson was born on 13 September 1844 in North Conway, New Hampshire, the son of Samuel Willey and Eliza (Randall) Thompson. He was ordained a deacon in 1880 and a priest in 1881, the latter by Bishop Lee, while doing missionary work at St. John the Baptist Church in Milton, Massachusetts. He established a boys' school there and attempted to establish another later in 1881 in Faulkland, Delaware, where he served as rector of St. John's. In 1882, he married Julia Francis Radway in Manhattan. He remained in Faulkland only until 1884, and the school closed two years later. He moved to New Brighton, Pennsylvania, and remained there two years until returning to Massachusetts to become rector of Trinity Church in Wrentham. In 1887 he moved to Indiana and became rector of St. James, South Bend, also taking charge of St. Paul's, Mishawaka, the following year, holding both pulpits. He resigned Mishawaka and South Bend in 1890 and moved to Connecticut to become the head of the Canaan Academy. He left there at the end of 1895, moved to Pleasant Valley, New York, and took charge of St. Paul's. In 1899, he became a missionary for churches at Canajoharie and Fonda. In 1910 he headed a church in Driskill, Kentucky. He died in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on 30 April 1934 and is buried in North Conway Cemetery in New Hampshire.
