Rev. Edward Saunders

The Rev. Edward Saunders was born at an uncertain date and place, probably in the 1870s. He was a graduate of Indiana University and Western Theological Seminary, and was ordained to the priesthood about 1893. He served the parishes of St. John's Greencastle and Trinity Bloomington before coming to St. Paul's Church in Hammond in 1894. He remained there a year, resigning in 1895 and heading to Western Australia on the S.S. Albany as a clergyman of the Church of England. He went first to Roebourne and then to Beaconsfield. By 1907 he served a church in Geraldton and in 1917, at Toodyay in Dampier. He was at Perth in the late 1920s and seems to have died there. His widow, who is not named in her death notice, died in Perth in 1944, so Saunders must have died before then. His death record has not been found with certainty.
