He was ordained to the priesthood in 1896 and married Julia L. Scholl the following year on 23 June 1897. He began his career at St. Margaret's Church, Windsor Park, Chicago. From there he moved to La Porte, Indiana, serving as rector of St. Paul's from 1899 to 1902 and of St. James, Goshen, from 1906 to 1914. He later returned to the diocese to become rector of Trinity, Logansport from 1923 to 1930. He moved from there to Danville, Illinois, to become rector of the Church of the Holy Trinity, but was back in the Diocese of Northern Indiana again in 1939 as priest-in-charge of St. Thomas Church, Plymouth, from 1939 to 1941. He died in Marion County, Illinois, on 27 March 1949.
