Charles Thompson Coerr was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, in August 1848, the son of William Henry and Mary Ann (Thompson) Coerr. He graduated from Yale College in 1868 and was ordained to the diaconate in Woodbury, Connecticut, in 1871. He married Charlotte Morris the following year on 28 August 1872. He served briefly as rector of St. Paul's, La Porte in 1875, but by 1880 he was in Rochester, Minnesota. He died in Waterbury in 1922 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery.
