Nowadays when people think of human trafficking, their first thought goes to sex slavery. While this is a horrendous problem, it is not the only form of slavery still effecting people today. This text exposes several examples of this occurring every day right under our noses with us none the wiser, such as the Vietnamese women being forced to work in nail salons mentioned in the image above, the poor man being shipped out to work in a cigarette shop, and the African children being taken to European soccer camps to be trained for their cutthroat competitive and monetary soccer leagues and discarded should they fall short. These may not strike some immediately as a violation of human rights, a job is a job, no? Wrong. These people are being taken from their homes and their countries to work demanding jobs for ridiculously low wages under false promises or pretenses for the monetary gain of someone else. This manipulation falls under the definition of slavery previously given on the page "What is Choice?". While these might not seem so violent as forced sexual labor, they can be equally harmful ans traumatic to the victims and their families.
