TV cartoon
The political cartoon of the two televisions speaking is a jab at Nixon about Kennedy’s good looks. A common topic throughout the entire campaign was whether or not John F. Kennedy’s appearance would give him an upper hand. Knowing that it would help him, Kennedy was seen in countless public spaces, for an example Kennedy was found in local coffee shop where he was photographed with countless civilians. Kennedy also did a lot of his campaign work by visiting people’s homes or even high school proms which made him seem more approachable and likable. Two televisions are used as characters to reinforce the fact that the debate was being televised. The comment about the candidates’ hair alludes to the fact that the race to the White House was inevitably going to come down to which candidate the American voters found more attractive.
