Concept 2

Multimodal composition is when multiple technologies are used for one product. For example, a presentation may contain text, images, and videos. Chapter Four in “Crafting Digital Writing, by Troy Hicks, encourages creativity in crafting web presentations. The chapter encourages teachers to allow students to use creativity to make a presentation that contains storytelling and that will stick in the minds of the audience.

I believe that multimodal composition can be used in blogs and presentations. In fact, I have used multimodal composition for my blog posts on the blog platform, Wordpress, and for my presentations using the online presentation tool, Prezi. Text, images, memes, and YouTube videos were used.

Writing and designing were part of my multimodal composition checklist for every blogpost and presentation assignment. I took into consideration what images and videos would work best for each. The images and videos worked together with the text, which created a well-thoughtout complete assignment. Each component worked in relation to one another.

Multimodal composition is important for writers and designers that create and post content online. With the advancement of digital technology and new media, there are more opportunities to use different textual, visual, and audio elements to create for the web. I think that everyone should take advantage of multimodal composition and push for creativity.
