descriptiondcterms:descriptionDuring the Great Depression many fraternities held events to get their mind off of their economic woes and stress of every day academic life. Some, like the hazings traditions of today, focused on torturing the freshman class and first year pledges. While the freshman "spot" tradition and "Hell Week" were banned, the pajama race was a lasting tradition.
