Water is scarce today and it is something that we need to make an effort as a community to conserve. Chiquita wouldn't be able to survive without the use of water to wash and transport their goods. As a result, the company is trying to conserve water in anyway they can. According to the Chiquita website, some of the ways they conserve water include:

• The banks of all natural watercourses are reforested and protected from erosion.
• All drainage ditches on our banana farms are planted with cover crops and no chemical weed control is allowed.
• Independent laboratories sample and analyze the purity of the water in the rivers and streams leaving our farms.
