THE BUSINESS LOUNGE
The business lounge, segregated from the common waiting area can be seen as a reflection of this social construct. With only a select few being able to gain access into this space, there was an intention to make the users feel more special. With the deliberate differentiation of the two interiors, there is a sense of hierarchy given off. The room is illuminated by artificial lighting, which leaves less room for natural light. The linear arrangement of the space gives a sense of order to the room. The chairs are not in rows of four or five, but in rows of three which shows a level of prestige that not many can acquire. They are much bigger compared to the ones outside, and they have their own personal coffee machine, tea maker and, a variety of drinks to select from. When it is time for boarding, they will be informed over the intercom. In order to experience this space, you have to prove you are worthy enough to be in it, by purchasing an even more expensive ticket. Access into this space comes with its advantages such as, priority check in, zone 1 boarding, better food, and an overall better experience on the train.
