Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Lebensold’s design provided an experience that can be labeled as unique and thrilling. The intriguing building kept surprising me in a good way. I could see that the architectural language used was of a skilled designer. Unfortunately, the extension lacked the magical feeling the original building held. DSA designed a beautiful extension, but it could be anywhere. The only thing relevant about the addition that applied to the original building was the wooden ceiling. Other than that, they weakened an incredible structure by attempting to make it more contemporary and by claiming that the building did not reflect the capital today, the firm insulted any building that was not constructed in the 21st century.
