Not only could this room be used for a private, family dinner but it could also be used to entertain other families or neighbors in dinner parties. This encouraged interaction with guests and other residents of the house, emulating the changes the function of a household during this time period. The dining room also has a connection to the outdoors, making outdoor dining a possibility. This was an added feature for entertaining, as well as another chance for the residents to interact with the surrounding landscape.
