Radiating Wings from House Center

The wings radiating from the center of the house were a common layout utilized by Neutra. The wings were usually only one room wide so that the room could be lit by natural light, due to the large glass walls on either side of the room. This was an effort to incorporate the surrounding landscape in various types of rooms throughout the house, such as bedrooms where privacy is usually the first priority.
The wings also placed emphasis on the center of the house, usually the living room or a common space. This placed emphasis on family and entertaining, communicating with other people in the house. The wings taper off into the landscape, ending in glass walls and immediate interactions with the surrounding environment.
