Prefabrication

Girona was given only six months to plan and construct Coppelia, and in order to meet the tight deadline, he based his design on elements that could be prefabricated—repeated and made on site. All the materials used for Coppelia are from Cuba, strengthening its identity as a national structure (Stout). The roof is a single dome with a diameter of 40 meters. It is composed of ribbed slabs of prefabricated, reinforced concrete like the rest of the building (De Las Cuevas).
