Pavement

1. Black asphalt pavement absorbs the sun's radiation which increases the pavement surface temperature and ambient air at night. Asphalt can get up to 50℉ hotter than a reflective white surface. An average city in North America is 29-45% covered in pavement (roads, parking lots, sidewalks) which shows just how much heat is being absorbed by just this one urban material.
