Guest rooms included vast quantities of mahogany and wicker furniture produced in Cuba, in keeping with the contract's stipulation that the project incorporate Cuban materials and goods whenever possible. The Cuban furniture, more often than not taking traditional forms popular since the colonial period, also played into tourists desires to experience an "authentic" Cuba, albeit with the most modern amenities.
