French Doors

While New Orleans was a French territory, French inhabitants used french doors for the new buildings they were building in America ( A Brief History). Creole architecture adapted french doors, and they are now one of the most common and recognizable characteristics of Creole homes. In the photo above the french doors have been filled in by windows, but the photo below shows a Creole cottage with french doors that are still functioning.
