Bright Colors

Traditionally Creole homes are painted with a combination of bright colors. New Orleans is celebrated for the colors in its architecture. Using bright colors to paint homes came from smilier traditions in Africa (The Caribbean). Creole's also used brightly painted ways as a way to separate themselves from Anglo-Americans, who favored homes painted a stark white. Below is a picture of a row of Creole Cottages found is New Orleans, which is a good example of the colors and combinations found in Creole architecture.
