Modern Architectures of North America

Bedroom

Eichler bedrooms were simple and streamlined, designed solely for rest so that the resident was encouraged to spend time in other parts of the house.
The room is simultaneously private and public. It is open to the outdoors, with large floor to ceiling glass letting in natural light and bringing the outdoors into the room. However the room is also separate from the rest of the house, giving the resident privacy from the other residents. Eichler homes were notoriously good for raising children and fostering families, separating areas for family members and giving parents a sanctuary away from the rest of the family.
