Walter White's War Against Lynching
Perhaps because of his childhood experience of the mob White was particularly devoted to the NAACP's anti-lynching campaign. Barely two weeks after he arrived in New York White began his first undercover investigation of a lynching in Tennessee. He would investigate many more at risk for his life, then write about them in the Association's magazine or other national publication. He would lead the charge in trying to get a federal anti-lynching law passed for the rest of his life.
