Los Angeles Toy District: Isaac Larian - Success
After graduating from California State University, Los Angeles, with a degree in civil engineering, Isaac Larian decided to work in the electronic goods exporting industry, starting a business he dubbed Micro-Games America (MGA) Entertainment. However, Larian did not encounter much success, so he decided to develop his business by producing and marketing Bratz dolls. Although Bratz dolls had a slow start in 2001, the product quickly gained popularity. In fact, by 2003, Bratz dolls earned Larian the Walmart award for supplier of the year, and by 2005, global sales reached an impressive two billion dollars. Larian is currently the owner of MGA Entertainment, which is now one of largest privately owned toy companies in the world. Larian said that his difficult beginnings taught him that one must fail in order to succeed, as he is living proof of this motto.
