12019-05-14T07:06:54-07:00Dan Jerome Dirilo5676d58b096c4af6914df4906f99f9fbd1ca5ecb337952A brief bio Manu Samriti Chanderplain2019-05-16T21:46:44-07:00Taylor-Dawn Francis5b1815c93680212e9e5fc883affa153dfce462a3Dr. Manu Samitri Chander, the Associate Professor of English at Rutgers University-Newark where he specializes in British Romanticism and World Literature, is the author of Brown Romantics: Poetry and Nationalism in the Global Nineteenth Century in which he “proceeds the conviction that it is high time for the academy in general and scholars of European Romanticism in particular to acknowledge the extensive international impact of Romantic poetry.” His education includes a BA in English at Wesleyan University and a PhD from Brown University. Some of his journal articles and book chapters include the “Introduction: Abolitionist Interruptions: Romanticism, Slavery, and Genre” from the special issue of European Romantic Review, “Romantic Genres of British Abolitionist Literature,” along with “The First Indian Poet in English: Henry Louis Vivian Derozio” in Rosinka Chaudhury’s The Cambridge History of Indian Poetry in English. His awards include the Academy of American Poets Prize from University of Michigan: Fall 2000, and the MLA Humanities in Five Public Engagement Prize, 2019.
