Is This Loss?

Loss, Undersea

Loss, Undersea is an illusory media work created by D. Fox Harrell, Associate Professor of Digital Media at MIT. He works in new forms of computational narrative, gaming, social media and other digital media systems. This narrative was generated though Harrell’s own platform, GRIOT. GRIOT uses cultural models of narrative to generate a story with a playable avatar.

The game follows a worker in the Atlantean world as they navigate through a week of everyday challenges. The avatar’s form constantly changes in order to fit the emotional tone set by the reader.
