Is This Loss?

Introduction

The groups of work presented within the following pages center around the topic of loss. Harry Shepherd analyzed "Everyone at this Party is Dead" by Caitlin Fisher (2014), a game with a focus on the loss of friends and family, analyzing a game in which the protagonist is the last person alive who was in attendance at her 21st birthday party and must face the painful memories of those she lost. Alyssa Hill explored the loss of individuality, self, and choice found in "Loss Undersea" by J. Fox Harrell (2006). Santiago Thorup worked with the text by the name of "The Dead Tower" written by Andy Campbell and Mez Breeze (2012) and analyzed how the author presented the concepts of loss of self, tradition, and life through the use of interactive literature. Kathy Jiang analyzed the content of “Loss of Grasp”(2010), a digital piece created by Serge Bouchardon and Vincent Volckaert which presents the terrain of certitude as a tension between the “grasp” and its “loss", or whether the narrator does or does not  have control of what happens next in his life.
