Unlike the historical horror that first comes to mind on the words "slave trade", modern slavery is not entirely race based and in many ways can seem more subtle than the blatant and "ownership" that was once legal. This slavery is entirely on the other side of the law and can take many different forms. Motions is comprised of many different clips, quotes, images, and recordings taken or given by survivors of this modern slavery in order to provide a comprehensive experience. Each page is made up of many these put together with randomly generated formatting, sizing, and transitions. The reader navigates through this work by clicking the right and left arrow keys on their computer to move forwards or backwards (although the backwards function has a bit of a quirk). As stated in the image above, this work is coded in HTML5 and JavaScript. This work falls under our collective theme of Social Justice because there is almost no situation in which inequality in freedom, economics, and social standing is any greater. Those in these situations have few to no rights or choices, receive outrageously low wages if they receive any at all, and have absolutely no voice. This work strives to bring awareness and understanding to those who suffer such circumstances.
