Concepts & Techniques

Here we will focus on editing concepts and techniques.

The concepts we are going to consider are:

Tone, meaning the attitude, mood, or feel of the video.
Pace, meaning the speed at which it moves.
Rhythm, the timing between the cuts.
Style, meaning how it all comes together, the techniques used, the visual aesthetic, the use of music, the influence of the pace and rhythm, and so forth.

Techniques include things like:

Type of cut being made, a standard cut, e.g., a jump cut, which moves the narrative forward or back in time
Transitions, e.g., cross dissolves and fades
Montagues
