Working with Sound

Welcome

Welcome to Working with Sound: Introduction to Audio Recording and Editing, an asynchronous Boston College Libraries workshop. Through exercises, a practicum, and discussions on sound-based concepts, will introduce you to voice recording (be it for voiceover/narration or podcasting) and the editing of such recordings in Audacity.

This workshop will provide you with a range of possibilities on how to produce quality sound with the understanding that many of you will be recording in your homes and offices and will be doing so with minimal equipment.

Technical Note
We will be using Audacity, a sound editing platform for exercise one and the practicum. If you do not have it already installed, you will need to do so. You can download it for free from the app site. These instructional videos for Mac and Windows will guide you through the install process.

To move through the workshop, follow the path indicated by the blue button below. The gray arrow (left of the blue button) will allow you to move back to the previous page.

If you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me, Melanie Hubbard, Digital Scholarship Librarian.
