This year was the sixth iteration of the Wonderland Award. Yepez, at that point a three-time submitter to the competition, won for her portrait of Lewis Carroll. She deliberately tried to distance her project from something that would be reminiscent of the two Alice books but would instead immortalize the man himself. The resulting 3’ x 4’ oil painting, done in a style contemporary to Carroll’s time, is, as she puts it, “suitable for display (and not just another item for archival storage).”
