UL Lafayette Presidents

President Rougeou in 1972

While his time as president was not as long as Presidents Stephens's or Fletcher's, President Rougeou accomplished much. Many new buildings were constructed and new graduate programs such as English, history, mathematics, and computer science were added. In 1969, the first doctoral degrees were offered, including in computer science. By the end of his term, student enrollment jumped 43%, exceeding 12,000 students.
