Emily Scott-Dearing
Dr Emily Scott-Dearing is an independent curator and public engagement consultant. Her portfolio includes championing Imperial College London’s Alexander Fleming heritage and the need to put patients and the public at the heart of efforts to keep antimicrobials working, as the Fleming Initiative’s Public Engagement Lead. She is passionate about creating immersive and interactive exhibition experiences and the powerful opportunities these present for the public to get actively involved in tackling AMR.
Emily’s exhibitions and wider public engagement projects are most often about the past, present and future of science, technology and medicine, with current and recent clients including Science Museum Group, Natural History Museum, Wellcome Collection, Kings College London, Oxford University’s Museum of Natural History, Bletchley Park and Europe’s largest biomedical research lab, The Francis Crick Institute.
Prior to establishing her consultancy, Emily worked for 16 years at London’s Science Museum. There she led teams to deliver an array of permanent galleries, temporary exhibitions, events programmes, festivals and digital content, in roles including Head of Exhibitions & Programmes and Lead Curator for Medicine: The Wellcome Galleries. She originally trained and practiced as a biomedical research scientist in the fields of gene therapy and virology.
