Law & Regulations

For anyone paying attention to the news over the past several years, it will come as no surprise that YouTube has been constantly mired in copyright lawsuits. Although the company emerges victorious time and again, we are beginning to see the effect of these suits in YouTube's current restructuring (see "Viacom v. YouTube" and "Restructuring MCNs and Monetization Review"). At the same time, YouTube has decided to intercede on behalf of some content creators who are unhappy with their MCNs or their contractual obligations to their MCNs (see "The Transparency Button") -- an interference YouTube maintains is part of its move to create more transparency for the monetization processes on the site.
