General Editor, The Space Between, Call For Applications
The general editor is the primary representative of the journal and represents the journal staff on the Advisory Board of The Space Between Society. The general editor is responsible for the following:
- Collaborating and coordinating with the Associate Editor on all journal tasks, and coordinating with the Book Review Editors to publish the slate of book reviews. (The book review editors are responsible for selecting books for review, securing reviewers, and managing the editorial process for this section.)
- Managing the submission and review process including initial review of submissions, solicitation of peer reviewers, and all communications with authors regarding the status of their submissions.
- Managing the publication process, including developmental editing, copy-editing, and proofreading of all sections of the journal,
- Mounting the journal contents on the Scalar online platform and providing authors with pre-publication review of online contents.
- Soliciting editos for special issues and coordinating with special issue editors to maintain publication quality and timelines. The Space Between typically publishes a special issue every other year.
- Engaging with The Space Between Society’s annual conference coordinators, including posting pre-conference publicity items on the journal site.
- Maintaining records of journal submissions, monitoring compliance with permissions and other journal policies, and setting publication timelines.
- The successful applicant must be a member of the Space Between Society at the time they begin the position and maintain their membership throughout their term.
