In 1958, the company debuted a new high-end model called the Park Lane, which featured a 430-cubic-inch engine dubbed the Marauder. The economic recession of 1957–1958 had severely impacted the manufacturer, and it gambled that this fleet-footed entry-level luxury vehicle could turn the tide. This photograph of a coupe parked at the Los Angeles County Arboretum shows off the car’s split front grille, sweeping chrome styling, and V-shaped rear fins.
