Brewer: The Importance of Energy Management

Energy management, in the most general sense is the management of the parameters of energy flows within an organization, starting from the process of production and supply of energy supply or energy, through the transformation process, all the way to the final use of energy. The Power Company's chief energy consultant Steven Brewer has been actively following the step by step development of energy management as a process.
The main activities within the energy management system can be divided into several characteristic groups such as gathering data and creating a database of energy supply and energy use in buildings of public character, which needs to include all relevant information concerning the characteristics and function of these objects. The energy balance of a given household or industry, for the previous year, needs to be in accordance with the recommended or determined methodology. Energy balance is crucial to determining where that household or business stands on the energy consumption scale, and to define its energy policy. Having a defined energy policy can be especially useful for identification of energy saving opportunities like production energy indicators, defining resources, energy-saving measures and defining the list of priority measures. Serving as an adviser at The Power Company, Steven Brewer uses such opportunities to add value to their clients, which is the company’s first and foremost mission. Indicators are instruments for measuring the efficiency of households and public buildings, and are used for comparative analysis to define the efficiency of energy production and consumption.

Preparing periodic reports that contain analysis of energy consumption and energy costs, with the proposed priority measures that can improve the energy situation on a higher scale, can be a rather demanding task. Preparing and implementing such projects of energy efficiency and renewable energy in the sector of public spending is slightly different, and probably more complex. Developing an energy plan, regardless whether it is for a household or an industry, must be done in accordance with the recommended or designated methodology. Steven Brewer has been writing about developing cost effective solutions for their clients.
