The Oral History Lab @UPRM

The Library's Contributions

The UPRM Library team generated a variety of products for the OHL's Listening to Puerto Rico project. First and foremost, the Library created the online collection where users can access the oral histories compiled by the OHL. UPRM librarians also developed bilingual metadata standards for the description of the OHL's oral histories. These standards are detailed in a metadata manual designed specifically for the OHL, with English and Spanish versions. Furthermore, several online subject guides were created and published by the Library as part of the project. Finally, the Library team organized a series of online workshops, with sessions addressing diverse topics associated with the work carried out by the Oral History Lab. All events in this series were open to the community.

Additional contributions by UPRM Library include housing the OHL's physical spaces, managing equipment loans to students carrying out OHL-related projects, and initiating the development of digital preservation policies and procedures to ensure the long-term viability of the Lab's assets.
