Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Female refugees deserve a place in academia, the media, and our minds. Currently, they do not frequently occupy these spaces or receive the respect and attention that other groups do. When female refugees can occupy these spaces, they can be heard. They can have representation and the ability to utilize its power to better their living situations.
This project will focus on the common themes, concerns, and experiences of female refugees. I will draw from literature, articles, documentaries, and the interviews I conduct. Gender roles will be given significant consideration in the analysis of this information.
When you have finished reviewing this project, I hope you can have a better understanding of the lives of female refugees, the challenges they face, and how we can best support them.
