The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood: Thinking Historically About Artistic Movements

Final Project

While this art history sub-module includes the elementary facts and stories of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood members, there is still much to discover. For example, did you know that the Brotherhood had their own publication? Or that when Elizabeth Siddal died, Rossetti buried his collection of poems with her and then dug them up again? These details and nuances add to our understanding of this artistic period and how it connects to the grander comprehension of European art history.
Below are several final project ideas that are meant to cultivate a greater appreciation for the Pre-Raphaelites and their impact. These projects incorporate a variety of ways in considering differing perspectives and were curated with attention to the diversity of learning styles of students in mind, whether you be someone who prefers research papers, debates, or hands-on projects, there is something for you!
