Unreadable Text: Asemic Figures
Asemic Figures, a one-of-a-kind artist book created by Evelyn Eller in 2014, combines unreadable language fragments and twisting drawings to create a book of collages. Eller's work nestles buzzing paragraphs of asemic text within the crooks of the silver squiggles. It almost suggests that the wriggling lines can only be described by the unreadable text, and therefore indecipherably beautiful.
Even in the absence of whole, formal, standardized texts, we attempt to make meaning by scanning the work, left-to-right, slowly formulating ideas.
