Now that you can “read” a Roman coin and have a general overview of the development of typology on Roman coinage, we are going to focus on the representations (e.g. obverse portraits and full-length or seated figures on the reverses) of leading, living figures on Hellenistic and Late Republican coinage. What would you say are the similarities and/or differences between Hellenistic and Late Republican coins of leading figures? For example, the feature of depicting living figures on Roman coinage is a borrowing from Hellenistic coinage.
