This issue featured Native American, Indian, and Chinese families, as well as the Jewish one in the images above. The Jewish family stands out in this context for their whiteness: they "look American" as opposed to the people of color also featured who cannot visibly assimilate into America as Jews did. But at the same time, that a Jewish family is categorized with racial others suggests that they are only considered somewhat white.
