Round 2 Remix, Paths of Resistance (Vicki Callahan)

Although Christina Lane and I remixed different videos in Round 2, it is interesting we both took on the issue of the pattern of lies in male governance and, in turn, samples of female resistance. How do we resist the lies of leaders when the sheer repetition in the media is enough to make us cynical? No matter if the rhetoric is sincere/seductive as in Bill Clinton or simply consists of shouting the same phrases repeatedly as in Donald Trump, we have options to resist as our remixes show. Some are false paths of accommodation and opportunism as in Omarosa's self-serving "confession" for which laughter rather than empathy is the most likely response. But other paths from Nasty Women to Coffy offer agency and action in response to Omarosa's tears and self-loathing. Lane finishes with a call from Keenaga-Yamahtta Taylor that invokes our oft erased historical legacy of solidarity across race and class boundaries.
