In many parts of the book, Chopin utilizes symbolism to conceal the true meaning of specific things which ironically intensifies its implied meaning, once the reader figures them out. Among many of these symbolic parts of the book, there was one sentence that stood out in its intensity and importance; a sentence in chapter 21, “Edna did not know when the Impromptu began or ended.” (Chopin, 66). This simple sentence unravels the whole process of Edna’s awakening and hints the end of Edna’s life.
