However, once we read the book closely, it is clear that it has a significant meaning inside which enables the readers to understand Edna’s awakening more thoroughly. Impromptu is the key which connects Edna to her artistic inspiration, her awakening, and to the bird that is skillfully scattered in the book. It also hints the reader to guess why Edna’s awakening couldn’t be sustained any longer. Still, there remain some questions that should be answered to fully understand the book. What made Reiz strong enough to develop her awakening unlike Edna and does the suicide of Enda really mean that Edna failed in fully developing her awakening could be the relevant questions that should be unraveled to understand The Awakening better.
