This footage from the Fox Movietone News outtake collection showcases a conglomeration of shots centered upon the arrival of Elder and Haldeman in New York City on November 11, 1927. The outtakes begin by introducing Elder, smiling and waving through a porthole on the ship, followed by her and Haldeman disembarking only to be immediately surrounded by eager spectators. The pair is filmed from multiple vantage points, waving to the crowds and answering questions. The following sequence is a repetition of the beginning, identical to the prior footage though extended slightly. Overhead shots depict the immense crowds that have gathered at City Hall to welcome them, as well as long distance views of Elder and Haldeman walking down the steps towards the vehicle awaiting them. There is a section of damaged footage, exhibiting a gray-to-black strip in the center of the frame, though the background city shots are still somewhat discernable. Around the time mark 9:16, an interjection denoting the start of the second reel appears on screen, and the following sequence places Elder and Haldeman back on the ship, in different clothing than before. They partake in leisurely activities, and other guests onboard the ship are filmed as well (though remain unidentified). The subsequent clips either revisit previous scenes, such as the initial porthole and entrance with Elder, images of the gathering crowds, and Elder and Haldeman entering or exiting the vehicle, while also depicting another close-up shot, this time with each pilot and their spouse. The final moments show Elder getting into the vehicle and waving, with a large “Coney Island” sign behind her.
