Roots and Fruits: : Exploring the History and Impact of the Women's Art Registry of Minnesota

1975 : Woman Art Exhibition

Woman Art at Normandale Community College
February 18–March 14, 1975

With the positive press received for the Women’s Erotic Art Show and Women’s Work 11, WARM membership began increasing without much effort from the organization. Woman Art was a large, group exhibition open to any member of the registry. In total, the exhibition included more than 65 works by 35 of the group’s 50 statewide members.

The frequency of WARM’s exhibitions during the first three years of the organization significantly increased the visibility of its artists. These shows also drew public attention—and sometimes scrutiny—for the quality and diversity of the work, which relied heavily on feminist agendas. While Woman Art was the last WARM show prior to the opening of WARM’s gallery, the organization would continue an outside exhibition program for many years.
