1795 Pointe Coupee Conspiracy

Testimony of Grand Joseph

Grand Joseph: (also known as Grand Francois, the slave of Mr. Poydras)

Was named by Francoise and Madelaine of the Tunica Nation as one of the leaders in the conspiracy. Later a slave, owned by the widow Lacour also claimed that Grand Joseph was a follower in the plot.

When Grand Joseph is asked about other the conspirators named in the plot and he denied any knowledge of anyone or any conspiracy. Shockingly, there is only said to be one witness against him and he is subsequently sentenced to hang.
