These photographs feature my family on the left and childhood friend on the right. The photographs of my family were given to me by my mother. They show moments from my childhood and serve as a reminder of how far both my family and I have come. These photos encompass our mobilities --geographic and social-- in our experience within the Mexican immigrant and First Generation narratives. They also hold personal sentimental value for myself. The photographs featuring my childhood friend and me serve as a reminder of the relationships outside of my kin that I've developed and sustained in my academic career before Yale. 

The photos and picture frames hold a mobility in themselves as objects. They can be moved to different locations within what I call home at any given moment in my life, but also allow for memories to have mobility through nostalgia and emotional ties. These photographs represent my migration from Aurora, Illinois to Yale by serving as a tie between my current reality and past. They remind me to keep on pursing progress while also sustaining solidarity with communities from my past.
