Acknowledgements

More than anyone, I want to thank Professor Genevieve Carpio for her teaching, mentoring, and amazing planning skills that made "Latino/a Mobility in California History" possible. And a heartfelt thanks to all of my classmates in HIST/ERM 129 for sharing all of your knowledge and friendliness.

I am grateful for the Helzer Academic Travel Grant which funded my flights to and from Stanford for my research. I am also indebted to the helpful staff at the Stanford University Libraries Special Collections.

Finally, I want to thank Albemarle County Public Schools for providing me with an excellent K-12 education. It is the kind of school system that the East Los Angeles protesters dreamed of, and risked everything for.
